So
plans were made, and construction was begun to enclose a portion of
the existing lobby, and in the winter of 1995 the gift shop moved
into its present quarters. The gift shop is staffed by John Travis,
and is open the following hours: There are terrific bargains to be had at the Tales & Treasures gift shop. There are all sorts of goodies for kids, like erasers, sticker books, gliders, tops, temporary tattoos, bead bracelets and necklaces, pencils and pencil sharpeners, coloring books, and notepads. There are some elegant gifts for grown-ups as well, such as onyx candlesticks, wooden puzzle boxes, patchwork purses, baskets, Christmas ornaments, ebony letter openers, and note card sets. Whether it's Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas, Tales & Treasures is a good place for great prices on seasonal merchandise. But most of all, Tales & Treasures gift shop is a great source for like-new used books. Libraries are apparently magnets for people's used books, yet the library adds only a small percentage of the books it is given each year to the library collections. The rest are made available to Tales & Treasures, and you have to come in and see it to believe the quality of the used materials which are available. |
